Welcome to the Successful Start Program!

The Successful Start Program at Collins Career Technical Center is designed to ensure that students entering our adult education programs are fully prepared for success. This program provides incoming students with essential orientation, foundational skills, and resources to help them thrive in their chosen fields. From self-evaluation exercises to personalized guidance, we equip students with the tools and confidence they need to excel academically and professionally as they embark on their career paths.

What is Successful Start?

The Successful Start Program aims to:

Help you Identify what's expected of you: Every successful student shares a few common traits. We'll help you understand what these are so you can strive to meet, or even surpass, them!
Understand your learning style: Everyone has a unique way of absorbing and processing information. We'll help you identify your style so you can optimize your learning.
Set Goals: Learn how to set achievable short-term and long-term goals. Having clear aims can make your education journey more focused and rewarding.
Time Management: Balancing study, work, leisure, and sleep is an art. We'll share smart techniques to organize your time wisely.
Master Google apps: Nowadays, technical skills are fundamental to academic success. You'll explore the world of Gmail, Google Classroom, and other Google platforms to ensure a seamless digital learning experience.
Enhance your technical skills: Alongside Google tools, you'll learn an array of technical skills to improve your communication and organization.
Program fundamentals: Get a solid grasp of our program's core aspects and learn how they will shape your learning journey.
Professional skill set: Aside from academic success, personal and professional growth is integral. This program will equip you with vital skills that will not only benefit you throughout your course but also in your future career.

Is Successful Start required?

Sucessful start is a required portion of your program at CCTC. We've found that this short course has improved our student success rate. We've made it as easy as possible!

Our introductory program is a blend of two parts:

A five-hour in-person meetup
Online training modules

We recommend you finish these before the first day of the class. The details for the online component will be shared during our friendly meetup, helping you to navigate this upcoming adventure.
